Our group is the
principal investigator in two major studies of
emotional intelligence. We want to thank the
developers of the four major tests of emotional
intelligence for their support and assistance.
They are: Hay McBer of Boston, Multi-Health
Systems of Canada, and Hogan Assessment Systems
of Tulsa.
Special thanks to James Spee Ph.D., a management
professor, University of Redlands in California
for his expertise and help in gathering
responses to the Emotional Competence Inventory.

Study 1. Emotional Intelligence and Star
Performers-examined the emotional intelligence
of award winning small business entrepreneurs
who completed two tests of emotional
intelligence. The results suggest-
Successful entrepreneurs are especially strong
on the emotional competencies of assertiveness,
optimism, and stress management.
Assertiveness finding so striking, if
entrepreneurs do not believe they are assertive-
then they may want to build their assertiveness
before starting a new business venture.
Entrepreneurs who scored high on the
self-report measures of EI, also scored high on
the ability EI measure.

Study 2. Comparative Study of the Four Major
Measures of Emotional Intelligence
This study was planned to determine if any
relationship exist between the four major
measures of emotional intelligence.
The four measures included in this study all
met specific criteria. These four
